You know what list I am talking about. The task and to-do lists you create that never ends. It continues to grow every time you complete a task.
Well, I have a list. Amongst that list are my goals list with tasks, future task list and my to-do list. My goals list with tasks are simple. I don’t have to change them much. I know what I want to accomplish in life and I am doing it. This list is to create my empire. My future task list are things I want done but not quite sure if I will get around to doing it. For example; get new roof and siding replacement on the house, backsplash installed in the kitchen, girl’s trip in 2022, tint car windows, etc. Unfortunately, my to-do list keeps growing. Every day a new discovery appears on my plate that needs my right-away attention. For example; a person or company to call (i.e., pay a bill or dispute charges), pay bills online, go to a medical appointment, new meeting pops-up on my calendar taking time out of my day or steps I have to take once a guest rents out my Airbnb rental property.
The world doesn’t stop if I don’t do an item on my future task list. So why does my life feel like it has become a world-wind of events changing the course of direction constantly? I have fallen back on some things and negotiated other things saying to myself “If you don’t do A will B notice?” Guess what? I have convinced myself that B will be furious. I don’t know when to quit over exerting myself. This habit needs to come to a shocking halt. Daily stress will break your body down and disrupt your mental. Anxiety will take over and cause you to be frustrated at everyone and everything. Truthfully, the stress is not worth your body breaking down or not being able to function because of high stress.
Your health is important. Take time out for yourself to meditate, to relax with a friend, go on vacation, take a walk, ride a bike, go to a nice restaurant by yourself and be in the moment. Make reservations to do a Sip-N-Paint. It is so relaxing and rewarding at the same time. Take a trip to the mountains. Go hiking. Spend a day at the beach. Listen to the waves while reading your favorite novel. Life is to be enjoyed not envied. You have a great life. You will notice it when you stop comparing your life to others. Being busy in your life doesn’t mean you are accomplishing much. Like me, you could simply be distracting yourself from fear of success, fear of failure or both. Fear of facing pain is a new challenge I have come across. What are you afraid of facing (fear or pain)?
I challenge you to take your goals, task list and to-do list and put them down for one week. Before you do, make sure your bills are paid on time. *Ain’t-nobody got time for that! (smiles). Clear your calendar for one solid week. Focus on you. Focus on wellness. Focus on what makes you happy. After the week is over, ask yourself did anything fall apart in your life? If not, the busy work filled with all of the items on your list can wait. Realize you are the most important person in your life and you matter.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
